One thousand adults were surveyed. One in three said he would rather shorten his life by up to 2 years than take a daily pill for the rest of his life.
This is also very interesting: One in five said he would be willing to pay more than $1,000 to avoid taking a pill every day.
These people were asked specifically about heart drugs, ones like blood pressure and cholesterol-lowering drugs, but I imagine the same to be true about diabetes medications. People just don't like taking pills when they don't feel sick.
There's an easy solution. You can trade your pills for the right diet and a little exercise. Foods like creamy oatmeal with sweet berries, crunchy tacos stuffed with seasoned black beans, lettuce, and salsa, and even decadent strawberry pie will keep you satisfied and wanting more. And walking a few days a week for 10-30 minutes at a time, is all that's to it. Not only will you be able to ditch your diabetes meds, but also your cholesterol and blood pressure meds.
There's hope beond the medicine chest.
