Rule #2: Exercise 10 minutes at every meal. Whenever you can, take 10 minutes either before or after, or both, to walk, cycle, dance, or whatever you can do to get your body moving.
Exercise is natural insulin. For the most part, the only way to lower glucose is to have insulin escort it into the cell, but there is an exception to this rule. The repeated rhythmic contractions of your muscles during exercise push glucose into your muscles. The more glucose you can push into your muscles, less is left in your blood, and the lower your numbers will be. It doesn't have to be strenuous exercise, you just have to do it.
Taking a 10 minute break before you eat or before you do the dishes to walk the dog or to walk up and down your driveway will give your body an extra boost to lower glucose readings.
