Researchers put together the results of more than 300 studies that followed the outcomes of nearly 120,000 people who take diabetes medication. They published their findings in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
They found that people with Type 2 diabetes who take diabetes medication do not live even one day longer than people with Type 2 diabetes who do not take diabetes medication. Researchers also found that diabetes medications do not change whether you get heart disease or not.
Diabetes meds only move the sugar around so we can't see it on a blood test. The sugar goes into the liver, the kidneys, etc. We don't look in those places, and we think that as long as it's not in the blood, we're safe. Unfortaunately, that's not the case. The sugar damages the organs where it hides.
This is not new news, folks. We have known this for a long time, yet we continue to prescribe and prescribe and take and take. The only answer for lowering blood sugar numbers is to eat more plant foods like potatoes, apples, chick peas, and salad. These plant foods can keep sugar moving into the cell and not let it pile up in the blood where it causes damage to precious nerves and organs.
Don't worry. You don't have to eat only plant foods if you don't want to. Eating MORE fruits and vegetables and MORE beans and grains is the first step. But if your blood sugar is out of control, sticking more closely to a low-fat whole foods plant-based diet can get rid of the diabetes and save your life.
